Department of Public Safety
Accessibility
We want everyone, including people with disabilities, to be able to use this website and our online services.
Our standard
The American Samoa Department of Public Safety aims for dps.as.gov and its online services, including Office of Motor Vehicles appointment booking, to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This is the technical standard the U.S. Department of Justice adopted for state and local government websites under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
What we have done
- Every page and the appointment system can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
- Pages are built with headings, landmarks, labels and status messages that work with screen readers.
- Text and controls meet WCAG color-contrast requirements.
- Pages can be zoomed to 200% and read on small screens without scrolling sideways.
- Forms explain what is required, identify errors in text and say how to fix them.
Other ways to get our services
If you cannot use part of this website, call the DPS main switchboard at (684) 633-1111 for help with an Office of Motor Vehicles appointment or to ask for information in another format. When you book online, you can note any accommodation you need, such as wheelchair access or an interpreter, in the special accommodations field.
Report a problem
If something on this website is hard to use or does not work with your assistive technology, please tell us. Call (684) 633-1111 and let us know:
- the web page address or the name of the page
- what you were trying to do and what went wrong
- the best way to reach you
We will work with you to provide the information or service another way, and we will use your feedback to fix the problem.
Ongoing review
This website was reviewed against WCAG 2.1 Level AA in September 2026 using automated testing and keyboard testing, and the problems found were fixed. We will keep reviewing the site as pages and services are added. This statement was last updated in September 2026.
